Honduras to host the 2004 Congress of the Federation of Spanish Journalists and Travel Writers

The Honduran Institute of Tourism’s Bureau of Conventions and Visitors has garnered a spot for Honduras as this year’s host of the annual congress of the Federation of Spanish Journalists and Travel Writers (FEPET) Honduras is only the second Latin American country to host the event, scheduled for November 21-28.

FEPET was created to promote international tourism and, in keeping with its mission, will take advantage of the congress to promote the tourist attractions of Honduras. Coverage of the event will be widespread in Europe. It will also be featured in tourism magazines that circulate worldwide.

The Federation is a part of the larger International Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers, which is a member of UNESCO. Its membership includes more than a thousand of journalists and travel writers living and working in Spain. The members themselves are grouped into smaller associations located throughout the country, specifically in Alicante, Andalucía, Aragón, Asturias, Baleares, the Basque country Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla - La Mancha, Cataluña, Extremadura, Madrid, and Valencia.

Members come from all branches of the journalism industry, including daily newspapers, tourism magazines and supplements, specialized and generalized publications, electronic journals, radio and television, video producers, conferences, freelancers, authors, tour guides and professors giving tourism and tourism advertising courses.
