In order to provide visitors to the Let’s Go Honduras
web site with even more information about the country’s
main tourist destinations, the Honduran Institute of Tourism
(HIT) has signed a cooperation agreement with Red Technologies
Honduras, S.A. de C.V. to equip the site with high quality
digital maps. Red Technologies will produce, install, run
and develop the country’s official digital tourist maps.
This strategic alliance is the result of a cooperation initiative
launched by the Institute to seek greater support in developing
its web site. Red Technologies will keep the site updated
on the country’s tourism events and activities and will
place those events on the maps. This service will be provided
at no cost to the Institute, whose sole responsibility will
be to provide the necessary information to create the maps
and update the events.
The innovative system will allow local and foreign tourists
alike to use the Internet to access and discover the country’s
highways, including distances, the names and locations of
departments, municipalities, rivers, lakes and lagoons, and
other tourist attractions.
Zoom in and zoom out features will allow users to calculate
distances in a variety of different units. The maps will also
allow visitors to find specific street addresses in major
cities.
These digital tools will be available at www.letsgohonduras.com,
the official site of the Ministry of Tourism and the Honduran
Institute of Tourism. The site offers visitors the ability
to plan, manage and implement business operations using modern
information technology and the fastest growing communication
medium in history: the Internet.
The Honduran government supports this medium by providing
it with a wide variety of institutional information, plus
data on key tourist sites, statistics, investment information,
press releases and other information of interest to travelers.
The site also offers excellent advertising opportunities both
nationwide and abroad.
The cooperation agreement, which will help launch one of
the country’s newest technologies, was signed by Tourism
Minister Thierry de Pierrefeu and Red Technologies General
Manager David Pimentel.
