Using the latest technology and keeping up with new electronic
marketing trends in the tourism sector, the Tourism Ministry
has joined forces with Credomatic of Honduras to provide Internet
users and tourists in general with a new online tool to reserve
hotels and cars and purchase tour packages. The program brings
e-commerce to the forefront of the country’s tourism promotion
plans.
The new system is Central America’s largest single
transaction portal. It allows users on both ends to direct,
manage and carry out business operations using modern information
technology and history’s fastest growing means of communication
- the Internet.
The Tourism Ministry will provide the site with information
about Honduras’ primary tourist destinations, as well
as statistics, investment information, press releases and
other information of interest to travelers. The site will
be advertised both nationally and internationally. The entire
price tag for the project is expected to exceed $1.5 million.
Credomatic of Honduras brings to the alliance six years of
experience in the electronic transaction of products and services,
plus more than 25 years in credit card services and commercial
banking. The bank offers the project its expertise in providing
immediate and effective answers to the needs of clients and
potential tourists seeking information and assistance at the
site. Credomatic also guarantees the security of all online
and credit card transactions.
The private tourism sector will be in charge of providing
and updating information on available tour packages, and putting
together attractive offers for site users. Working together,
all of the participants will have a role in further strengthening
tourism as “The Biggest Company in Honduras.”
The site represents the vote of confidence that the private
sector has given to the government’s efforts to promote
the country abroad.
